At McMaster Continuing Education, we’re proud to feature instructors who bring both academic expertise and practical experience to their teaching. One of those instructors is Amna Khaliq, who teaches within the Business Administration program.
Amna holds a Doctor of Business Administration in Strategic Leadership, an MBA in Community Economic Development, and a Bachelor of Commerce with Honours. She has also earned certifications in Women’s Leadership from the University of Oxford, E-Learning from the University of Toronto, and Adult Education from Vancouver Community College. Over her career, she has taught more than 32 business management courses and worked extensively in leadership and community development roles.
“I’ve always believed in the power of lifelong learning and how education can create opportunities for growth and transformation,” Amna says. “McMaster Continuing Education offers accessible, high-quality programs that align perfectly with my teaching values.”
Amna teaches Business Law (BUS 436), Business Foundations (BUS 825), and Business Strategy (BUS 852), with a special focus on business and strategy.
“This program is designed to help students strengthen their leadership mindset while developing practical tools they can use right away,” she explains. “It’s especially valuable for leaders, aspiring managers, and those navigating career transitions.”
Students in the program learn proven business frameworks, strategies for leading change, and techniques to improve decision-making and communication. “The program emphasizes critical thinking and adaptability, which are essential in today’s fast-changing workplaces,” Amna says. “We focus on giving students tools they can immediately apply.”
“My advice is to participate actively and share your experiences,” she says. “The more you connect theory with practice, the more valuable your learning becomes. Stay curious, ask questions, and see the program as not just coursework, but as a professional growth opportunity.”
Amna’s interactive, supportive teaching style creates a space where students feel comfortable sharing ideas. Having travelled to 38 countries, served on boards, and written for local and regional publications — including McMaster University — she brings both global insight and community focus to her classes.
