McMaster Continuing Education is launching a new Sustainability program this Spring to address and teach practices on how people can adjust their actions at home, work and beyond to make sustainably-conscious decisions. The program will be offered fully online, with a combination of instructor-led and self-paced discussions, activities and webinars.
The program takes an encompassing approach by highlighting sustainability impacts on our environmental, economic and societal systems. The course content was developed by subject matter experts from the field of sustainability, with the intent of teaching best practices, strategies and developments for living and working sustainably.
Entrepreneur and sustainability professional, Somayeh Rokhgireh, will be one of the program instructors. Rokhgireh sees the need and desire from many in varying industries to improve their sustainability practices, saying, “We need to address the ever-challenging issues such as climate change, inequality and social unrest, and economic instability on the global stage.” Rokhgireh brings over 10 years’ experience in sustainable design and business sustainability management to the online classroom.
Students will examine how individuals, governments and businesses plan, design and implement sustainable practices throughout the program’s four courses. Participants will gain a Certificate of Completion after completing a minimum of 30-course hours, which can be achieved by taking any three of the four program courses.
