Meet Rimjhim: lifelong learner with a passion for personal and professional growth
Seeking to take on more challenging roles in the field, Rimjhim Rosalin was motivated to pursue further education and hone her existing skills with specialized knowledge, getting acquainted with real-life case scenarios and grasping the right tools and strategies to address them.
“My goal has always been to align my existing skills with analytical competencies and problem-solving techniques required for a business analyst position.”
Rimjhim is an Electronics & Communication Engineer and an MBA graduate, backed by several internship experiences, including the United Nations Social Development International (SODEIT) program. Rimjhim has work experience related to quality analysis, supply chain, customer success and business development/analysis. She has worked on projects focusing on drafting new strategies by researching technology integration to advance stakeholders’ needs and drive a positive growth curve.
“My diverse work background and keen passion in driving growth with effective strategies, analyzing KPIs and diagnosing key areas of improvements within the business fueled my interest in business analysis, as I sought to leverage data-driven insights to further contribute to organizational success.”
Just like any curious student looking to get into a good educational program, Rimjhim’s approach was researching on the internet until she found the perfect course on the McMaster Continuing Education website, where she was able to attend the Business Analysis webinar to learn more about the program, International Institute of Business Analysis™ (IIBA®)-endorsed courses, course structure, and meet the instructors.
“The reputation of McMaster Continuing Education as a provider of practical, industry-relevant programs, coupled with factual statistics and the program’s focus on real-world applications, gave me positive vibes and cemented my decision to enroll in the Business Analysis program.”
Rimjhim explains what a great experience it has been taking this program. “The course is very well planned with tons of resources, continuous support from the instructor, and a community of students and peers to share ideas. One of the coolest perks of the course was having the option to connect with some writing experts currently working with McMaster Continuing Education to get some professional review and tips on the assignment, presenting different perspectives on improvising the documentation in order to gain more confidence in our work.”
Rimjhim has a goal of getting into a business analyst role. The program at McMaster Continuing Education has equipped her with the understanding and application of the basic principles. Rimjhim has acquired the Entry Certificate in Business Analysis™ (ECBA™) certification, which not only validated her newfound skills, but she also believes it could position her in a good competitive advantage in the industry.
“The program’s practical approach and real-time case studies seamlessly translated theory into applicable skills. I have taken the Business Analysis initial course from my very knowledgeable professor who has been a wonderful support system for me throughout the program and beyond. I am also currently enrolled in more courses focused on stakeholder collaboration and engagement in the business analysis context and looking forward to further enrollment in great courses as well. The program, leading to the ECBA certification, covered a spectrum of topics crucial for a successful transition into the business analysis field
“Learning at McMaster Continuing Education from some of the fine mentors and industry experts has helped me gain a confident perspective of this path and the course has also helped me strengthen my understanding of the IIBA- certification, which I was able to clear in my first attempt.”
In today’s fast-paced world, it’s very important to continue learning and grow in personal and professional lives. For Rimjhim, continuing education is all about gaining new skills and staying relevant to the current technology and job market.
“Continuing education and lifelong learning are all about being agile and adapting to the student mentality, staying forever curious, and learning and growing in respective fields. This will boost our confidence and help us project ourselves with much more confidence to industry experts and the organization we are engaged in. To me personally, continuing education and lifelong learning is a personal fulfillment and sense of achievement, a great way to expand our horizons and open new avenues for growth and development.”
As a strong believer in lifelong learning, Rimjhim emphasizes the importance of embracing curiosity and adapting the method of “learning by doing” wherever possible.
“Curiosity fuels a genuine passion for learning and drives personal and professional growth. It’s not about getting the right answers every time, but knowing how to approach to solve the problem is what’s more important. Network with your classmates and mentors to understand different perspectives and pursue different minds – you will be amazed to see how many new viewpoints you can learn that you were not aware of before! Don’t hesitate to seek guidance from instructors or mentors. They are valuable resources who can provide clarity, share industry insights, and offer guidance on academic and career decisions. Challenges are inherent in the learning process. Embrace them as opportunities for growth rather than obstacles. Last but not least, embrace the concept of lifelong learning. I have always been a strong believer in lifelong learning and relate my working style closely to the adages below and try to follow it with great passion every day.”
For Rimjhim, being able to interact with her peers who are in different time zones through the discussion boards, whether it was to engage in meaningful discussions about the concepts and case studies or to connect with her professor to discuss questions and doubts, has been a positive experience.
“The quality of materials and practical links and resources were incredible and always challenged me to adapt new perspectives and techniques to solve a particular problem. Today, I am actively connected with my professors and some peers, and the course has helped me connect with great minds! The quality of instruction and the relationships fostered with peers have not only enriched the learning experience but have also established a supportive community.”
