Prerequisite: HTH 104. This course is a continuation of the Privacy, Confidentiality and Security course. The course will explore the various aspects of managing health privacy issues, confidentiality and access to health information. In particular, the course will examine the tools used to manage, control and disclose health information within organizations, taught within the framework of risk management. Students will engage in activities to highlight the collaborative nature of the roles, responsibilities and professional standards between Health Information Managers and Health Informaticians. Emphasis will be placed on the learner's ability to evaluate, analyze and apply concepts from this course, and the Privacy, Confidentiality and Security course, in order to promote their knowledge and skills at the local, organizational level as well as the overall health care system.
