Carlos Zegarra is an experienced instructor with over 20 years in the IT industry, serving as a project manager, technical lead, and software developer, alongside 10+ years of experience as a programming and math instructor. He specializes in teaching Java, JavaScript, Python, and full-stack development, with a passion for creating excellent software and sharing his knowledge with learners from all backgrounds.
Carlos holds a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú and a Master’s in Applied Computing from the University of Windsor. He is pursuing a PhD in Software Engineering at McMaster University, focusing on innovative microservices architectures.
Carlos has taught in diverse educational environments, including boot camps and university-level courses, engaging over 1,000 students. His expertise covers Java, the Spring Framework, JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, and DevOps tools like Docker and Jenkins. He also brings valuable hands-on experience in cloud technologies such as AWS.
His teaching philosophy focuses on making complex concepts accessible through practical, real-world examples, fostering critical thinking and problem-solving skills in his students.
When not teaching, Carlos mentors IT professionals, helping them navigate the Canadian job market through his role with the Toronto Region Immigrant Employment Council (TRIEC). He is dedicated to empowering his learners and guiding them to succeed in their learning journeys.
