Instructors
Tim D’Souza
Tim D’Souza has almost 30 years of finance, consulting and leadership experience, helping a wide range of organizations improve what they do. His experiences span a wide range of industries and companies – from Fortune 10 companies to small non-profit organizations in developing countries. He started his career working in international development, assisting small and mid-sized non-governmental organizations develop and execute strategy and operational improvements. Tim then spent about 20 years in the private sector, working in strategy and finance with companies like IBM, Sun Life Financial and Pet Valu. He returned to the non-profit world and served as the Chief Operating Officer at Children Believe, formerly the Christian Children’s Fund of Canada. He helped improve the organization before moving over to Diabetes Canada, where he serves as Senior VP, Finance and Business Operations. Tim holds a B.A. from the University of Toronto, an M.A. from the University of Guelph and an M.B.A from Yale University. He is also a trained accountant and holds the CPA, CMA designation. Tim serves on several boards of directors. These include the College of Immigration and Citizenship Consultants of Canada, the Canadian Chiropractic Examine Board and the Ontario Internal Audit Committee. Tim teaches part-time at Nipissing University, Algonquin College. McMaster University and the Insurance Institute of Canada.
Ryan Hamilton
Ryan Hamilton has been working in the finance and accounting industry for the last decade, having positions within banking, corporate finance, accounting, and taxation. He has also been working in post-secondary for the last five years, developing and instructing business courses, with a specific focus on personal finance, accounting, and strategy. He is also very passionate about eLearning and online course delivery.
Ryan strongly believes in making education as accessible as possible and integrates Open-Source materials in all his courses. He understands that learning is not a linear process for every student, and enjoys working with learners to find the best course of instruction that will work for them. The use of integrated case studies and real-world scenarios are just some of the ways that Ryan brings relevant materials into the (virtual) classroom.
Ryan holds his BBA (Accounting), and an MBA (Organizational Leadership). He is also a current Doctoral Researcher working towards his DBA (Educational Leadership).
Outside of the classroom, Ryan loves to travel, spend time with his family and volunteer with local social welfare organizations.
Jeffrey O'leary
Jeffrey O’Leary works as the Group Controller and FPA Lead for Karl Storz Medical Devices. Previously he has worked for Maple Leaf Foods and Wolseley Canada in various Marketing, Sales and Finance roles.
He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of New Brunswick, a Master of Business Administration and has earned the Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA), Certified Management Accountant (CMA) and Chartered Marketer (CM) designations.
Currently a member of the American Board of Forensic Accounting, Jeffrey is a Doctor of Business Administration student and currently teaches online and in-person courses at McMaster.
