Afthab Azeez

Afthab Azeez is an Academic Support Programs Coordinator at Carnegie Mellon University, where he designs and manages initiatives that enhance student learning, academic success, and operational efficiency. His work spans program development, student mentorship, and process optimization, including building systems to streamline academic support and ensure policy compliance.
With a background in Engineering Design and Automotive Engineering, Afthab brings a structured, systems-thinking approach to both education and problem-solving. He previously worked in automotive manufacturing, developing processes and systems for customized trucks and trailers, which informs his practical, real-world approach to design.
Afthab has taught Design Thinking and Calculus, and is particularly interested in helping students apply human-centered design principles to complex challenges.
He holds a master’s degree in Engineering Design from McMaster University, a master’s degree in Automotive Engineering from Amity University, and a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Mahatma Gandhi University.
Outside of work, he enjoys oil painting, stop-motion animation, and working with polymer clay, which continue to inform his creative approach to design and learning.
