Purpose: To develop the thinking skills required in organizations of the 21st century to cope with increased complexity and rapidly accelerating change. Globalisation, technology advances, and increased sophistication of consumers are among the factors requiring professionals, managers and all employees to become much more adaptable and able to deal with ill-structured problems than in the more stable past. This course will focus on developing students' understanding and skills in applying a complete system of creative and critical thinking, problem solving and decision making in real world organizational situations. Students will learn a disciplined process of thinking, emphasizing both divergence and convergence. The course will place heavy emphasis on the concept of process awareness as distinct from content involvement. Individuals skilled in both process (how) and content (what) will be better equipped to help their organizations, teams, and selves, be more effective, efficient, adaptable and flexible in the short and long run.
