Discover how to research, develop and implement a privacy management program for your organization. Through an examination of recognized privacy governance practices, participants will begin to develop a plan appropriate for their organization. Focus is placed on a privacy program's life cycle encompassing strategies for analysis, communication, technology and management of the plan to protect and secure personal information.

Janet Guevara is a seasoned privacy professional with more than 15 years experience in healthcare privacy, freedom of information compliance, data governance, risk management and strategic advisory services. Janet is currently the Director of Canadian and Caribbean Privacy and Royal Bank of Canada. She is responsible for leading a team of privacy professionals to ensure the Bank’s operations are in compliance with the applicable privacy laws. Janet has held previous leadership roles in multiple sectors and has been recognized for developing practical and sustainable privacy programs that ensure data protection controls are in place. For over 10 years, Janet has also served as a privacy representative on hospital Research Ethics Boards with a strong commitment to enhance privacy in research. She has completed a Master of Arts in Political Science and has also completed a Health Law Certificate from Osgoode Hall Law School. She is a Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM) and continues to expand her privacy education as a member of the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP).
