Exploring Modern-day Work and the Benefits of the Multi-Generational Workplace

Which generation does your leadership resonate with most? There is no question that there are real differences, misunderstandings, and other unfortunate tensions between and among employees that have been raised in different eras. As more generations join the workforce, it will continue to be a necessity for leaders to understand how to effectively lead these different generations. Today you may work with Baby Boomers who aren't thinking about retirement, Generation Xer's deep in their second careers, Millennials charting the waters of simultaneous care for their work, kids, and parents, Gen Zers who learned to email and handwrite in the same grade, and a few staff in their 80's providing, perhaps, the ballast of experience. As leaders, we must understand the impact of five generations of employees in the talent pool, which means for the first time in society, grandparents and grandchildren may find themselves sharing cubicle space. This course presents a framework for practices that support exploring modern-day work and embrace the challenges and benefits of the multi-generational workplace.

As a respected culture bearer for the organization, she held many leadership roles, including Store Manager, Director of Learning & Development and as Vice President, Human Resources for many years. In these roles, she was responsible for cultivating and delivering innovative programs to build succession, employee satisfaction, expansion and business growth. This work with her team, gained recognition as one of Canada’s Best Employers, year after year.

Jennifer is honoured to partner with the McMaster community and the Continuing Education team. She is a proud graduate of McMaster University and holds a Post-Graduate Certificate in Corporate Communications. Today, Jennifer is the owner of J. Hagen & Associates Inc. and founder of TeamTRUST®. She is a Certified Professional Master Business Coach, Executive Leadership, and Group Development expert specializing in the Integrated Model of Group Development and GDQ and the Hogan Assessment process. Jennifer’s passion is to support authentic leadership growth by harnessing the best of education, business strategy, and people – together.
